Try it in this order

  1. Tap or drag an affordable unit onto a legal position.
  2. Pause before a precise adjustment; inspect the next wave.
  3. Between waves, move the unit and verify its coverage before resuming.

Hardcore disables selling and Replace. Free between-wave movement is a different operation.

Place accurately on any screen

Drag a shop Pokémon onto valid terrain, or select it and choose a map position. Shaded ground, trees, buildings and boulders can block placement. On phones the sprite floats above your finger so the landing spot stays visible. Desktop players can nudge a placement with arrow keys, hold Shift for five-pixel steps and press Enter to drop it. Water requires a compatible line; check the swimming flag and terrain before planning a water bonus.

Rearrange between waves

Select a placed Pokémon and use Move between waves to reposition it for free. Choosing another placed Pokémon while moving swaps their locations. On desktop, right-click starts moving and another right-click cancels. Recall All collects the formation while keeping evolutions and moves. Replace sells one unit and places a teammate in the same spot, showing the cost first; it is unavailable in Hardcore. After any rearrangement, check that your intended attackers remain inside their supports' ranges.

Learn the keys that change a run

Defaults include Space to start, P to pause, F for speed, X for 1×, A for auto, E to evolve, M to move and C to recall all. Q and W learn the first two signature moves; G selects Charizard's third choice. S sells and R restarts, so check the action before pressing either. Help contains customizable Hotkeys. On mobile, use the browser's home-screen installation option for fullscreen play and the visible pause button for careful placement.
